Milton Roy Mixing has developed and adapted agitators to respond to major portions of chemical industry operations.
- Hydrometallurgy. Hydrometallurgy is a chemical process to facilitate metal extraction including recovery of iron mineral, aluminum, zinc, copper, and sterilization of special metals by biochemical treatment. This process requires a large liquid tank capacity in order to obtain the expected chemical reaction. Agitators are an essential device and our Robin agitators can be adapted based upon the desired application such as liquid holding suspension, homogenization, gas dispersion and heat transfer.
- Fertilizers. Phosphoric acid is a fertilizer which is primarily used in agriculture. Its production is the result of mixing between natural phosphate and sulfuric acid. This complex process requires an agitator for homogenization; so that the sulfuric acid perfectly reacts with the phosphate in the whole tank. Milton Roy Mixing agitators can be tailored to provide optimal mixing based up the acidity and viscosity levels, and corrosion and abrasiveness of the fluids. Our Robin mixers are resistant to the high temperatures required to melt sulfuric acid and the impellers ensure proper diffusion through the entire tank for a perfect homogenized solution.
- Mineralurgy. The processing of natural and synthetic mineral materials requires the storage of calcium carbonate particles to be held in suspension. The complexity of the process lies in the concentration of dry substance which makes the rheological behavior singular; the fluid behaves in a similar way to a pseudoplastic or a Bingham fluid, and in these cases, the fluid will likely need a storage area of 500m3, which represents a significant challenge. Milton Roy Mixing’s agitators are designed with high-diameter axial flow impellers that provide agitation throughout the entire tank. In addition, the agitator can operate at a low speed to obtain a shear that masters the fluid flow.
